Week 28 of 2011
I think this is the 28th week of 2011. I may be off by a bit. Our week was a normal one.
Cormac lost a tooth. It was safely placed in a cup of water, waiting for the tooth fairy. I had a big scare because Darren came home and proceeded to load the dishwasher. I didn't tell him about the tooth because I was busy doing other things. I freaked out thinking "OH NO, he dumped Cormac's tooth down the drain." Lucky for us Cormac had hid his cup and Darren didn't find it. Since then though, Cormac has not looked to see if the tooth fairy came or not.
Little girl went on her first garage sale outing. She came home with a pair of shoes that may or may not fit her in a year. They were 10 cents. Can't argue with 10 cent shoes. Its a deal in anyone's book. We also stopped by the church to light candles and have a visit to the Blessed Sacrament. It was wonderful. I think I shall do that more often.
Brech's big haul of the garage sale outing was a bike for $3. He was so excited. He has yet to ride it without someone pushing him. He was one proud boy! Each of the boys were given a dollar. Blase, Cormac, Rex and Brech spent their dollars on a movie a piece. Stephen bought a drum for .25. He said he had the best deal. He had a drum and .75 in his pocket.
Saturday I spent all day cleaning for company on Sunday. The boys were good helpers. We rewarded them with another water battle on Sunday after company left. Then they decided to run around the sprinkler. Too much fun. I have such great memories of sprinkler fun.

More Sunday Fun
After our water battle from last week, we had an enjoyable evening. The boys convinced their dad to start a fire. Of course, it being so cold (ha - in the high 80's), their dad said yes right away. Do you know what you need to start a fire??
First you need a fire pit. With the house surrounded with trees - that's a needed thing!
Next you need some innocent bystanders. These bystanders know the best way to start a fire. They also know what you are doing wrong and why. Of course, they have never started a fire (that their mother knows of), but are still authorities on the matter. After you have an audience...then you need a spark. Not just a little spark, but a GREAT spark.
After the fire starts, you will need some kindling. This can be dry leaves, twigs, or possibly an egg carton with fire starter on it. ;-)
The twigs should be lovingly supplied by a young boy who gets a bit too close to the fire. This will take a couple of years off a mother's life as well as cause discord between that young boy's parents on the proper distance a child should be from the fire.
When in doubt - always come prepared. Though the choice of plastic not so wise, we did commend him on his idea of protection. Would this be considered a situation where the execution of a plan did not go as well as it should have??
There is nothing so rewarding as a game of ball with family. Stephen, Brech and I had a great time. We learned so much - like Stephen should look where he is throwing so that the ball will end up somewhat near the person he is throwing towards. Brech learned that the ball will not just fall on his mitt without effort from him. He also learned that yelling at the ball does not make it come magically hop up into his hand. Mom learned that even though she ran more than she intended and she had to keep a little boy from giving up...she had a great time.
We even high-fived our success!! Good job to all of us! (Thanks to Blase for taking pictures of the ball game.)
After all that running and catching it was time to eat. The fire was ready and tummies were hungry.
WOW, that fire was hot. Did I mention it was SO COLD we had to huddle near the fire to stay warm. Yikes! Rex gave up shortly after the picture, but Blase was willing to take over for him.
OH yummy!! Brech dropped his hot dog, so we washed it off. Brech dropped his bun, so we threw it in the fire. Brech didn't like his hot dog, so we eat it for him. Oh my.
Can we get any further from the fire and STILL cook a brat??
My toes were nice and toasty. The brats were great too.
OH, grilling is hard work. Time for a snooze and a beer.
After our tummies had settled we had to roast marshmallows and have smores. Our friend Joe came over for smores. It was his birthday and we had to celebrate somehow.
I almost bet he could have gotten them both in there.
She is so cute! She enjoyed hanging out with her daddy all afternoon. Mommy enjoyed it too!

Heard Last Night
If you had been a fly on our kitchen wall last night you would have heard:
Stephen say "I'm sensitive to garbage cans." He was trying to explain to me why I need to dump the dustpan in the garbage for him. Oh can I relate. In fact, I bet my mom and dad are laughing right now saying that he is just like his mother!
Rex, running into the kitchen, commenting "Did I miss the staff meeting?" All I have to say is HUH??? For one I didn't know there was a meeting. And for another thing...I didn't know we had staff. I'd sure like to talk to them about their lack of help in the upkeep of this household. Maybe that is why I wasn't invited to the staff meeting??
Oh, what the kids say!!

Water Battle
Let the water fight begin...
Brech shoots Darren.
Darren shoots Stephen.
Rex shoots Stephen.
Stephen shoots Rex.
Stephen shoots Blase.
Blase shoots Stephen.
Darren shoots Blase and Stephen.
Then Darren throws 1/4 bucket of water on Blase
Darren filling up Cormac's gun. He was in the house missing all the fun.
Cormac shoots Blase.
Cormac tries to fill up his water gun but....
soaked Blase instead.
Now Cormac figured out how to fill his gun.
Its so easy to lose your shoe when you are having fun.
Blase shoots Cormac.
Then he shoots Darren.
And Darren shot him over and over again.
Then he thought about shooting me........
Here are a couple video coverages of today's sporting event.
At the beginning you will see Darren with a "full" water gun. Its actually empty, but no one knows that. Towards the end you can see the boys laughing. That's because Darren said he was done due to the fact that his underwear were wet. That's a good water fight.
Buzz, Bike, Boom, Myrtle
What do Buzz, bike, boom and Myrtle all have in common?? Nothing but a fun Saturday!
To infinity and beyond!! Brech loves to dress up like Buzz Lightyear. Thanks Uncle Loman for sharing with us!!BOOM! Did you hear that?? Its the sound of firecrackers being thrown on the ground. Well, maybe not BOOM! There was quite a commotion while the boys had some fun!
I followed Brech around and picked up the ones that didn't go off the first time. He would throw handfuls out and only one would pop. It had to be like the multiplication of the firecrackers for him.
Cormac had a great time making his dad "dance". That caught on real quick! Everyone wanted to make the others dance.
Darren had been saving some LOUD ones that did BOOM! Stephen complained his ears were hurting after Darren and I threw ours.
HEY MOM - DANCE!!!!
Action shot of Stephen's last handful.
Another new bike?? Blase went to town with Darren to pick out HIS early birthday present. He was outgrowing his bike, so he gifted it to Cormac. I had the first ride on the new bike. Either I'm out of shape or that bike is hard to petal...yah, I'm out of shape.Oh poor Brech Earl! His parents are so poor they can't afford a back tire for his bike. Just kidding. Darren was combining Rex's old bike with Cormac's old bike to make one functional bike. Now we need to find some training wheels for the bike and Brech is ready to go.
Darren and Cormac went shooting in the afternoon. On their way home they spotted a baby snapping turtle. I named it Myrtle.
Myrtle on Blase's hand.
Mom can we PLEASE keep the turtle???
Please Mommy until he is [this] big??
BUT MOM, we don't have ANY pets. (What about Stephen's fish, Pete??)
Myrtle coming up for air.
