October Means Blase Meets Ditch

The one and only Sunday that it snowed in October, or November or December for that matter, Blase was called into town to shovel snow.  Less than ten minutes later Darren comes up saying that he needed to go help Blase because he went in the ditch.

I picked up my phone and noticed that there were two missed calls from Blase.  I called him back, mostly to pick on him.  He then bemoans me for not answering the phone when he called.  He was quite flustered that he had to call Darren because "Dad won't let me live this down."  Son, I won't let you live this down.  I then informed him that I would have had to tell Darren anyway because I'm not going to come help him.

Poor kid.  You know - your first full-fledged accident in the ditch shouldn't be so close to home that your mother can take the binoculars and zoom in with her camera and get fairly decent pictures as proof.  Poor kid.  We all have to put a car in the ditch sometime.  Not everyone has a mother like me...so again, poor kid!

Blase's 19th Birthday

Blase had a great 19th birthday.  He had his Godmother Cecilia and her husband come over for supper.  We had a wonderful evening.  Not long after that he spent his birthday money (and more) and got a 3D printer.  He has enjoyed that hobby more than we thought he would.

His sisters wanted some pink unicorns to be part of the party!

Training Blase

I had the pleasure of training Blase to set up the Comrex for our live broadcasts.  He will fill in for me if ever I need someone to set up and tear down for a broadcast.  This is a great chance for Blase to learn a little bit about a new area of electronics and radio.

Perks of my Job

One of the cool parts of my job is meeting the people who voices are on the radio.
I met Jack and Johnnette Williams.
Jack Williams hosts Open Line and Johnnette Williams is the host of Women of Grace.

Blase and I also helped set up for the banquet where Johnnette spoke.
Here we are having a little fun with lights and music.

Baby Jack's Baptism

 Isn't he the cutest!?
Blase is Jack's Godfather.  His first Godchild.

 Amy loves her Baby Jack.

2019-2020 School Picture

First day of the maybe eighth week of school.  We may have been a bit behind on this.

Rex - 9th, Cormac - 9th, Stephen - 11th/12th
Brech - 5th
Gianna - 3rd, Brigid - K/1st, Kiara - K/1st
The teacher's selfie - with a little help.
Photobomber alert!

First Snowstorm

We had our first major storm of the fall/winter on October 10 and 11th.
I drove the pickup, Rex (besides taking pictures) was the calf whisperer, and Blase had the rough job of chasing the calf on the 4-wheeler for over an hour.
Good thing we got Boba in when we did.  He was much happier near the barn.
 The kids love snow.
Well, not Blase as he shovels snow...and it gets old fast!

Nibbles Bites Blase

I got a new Pampered Chef slicer this summer.  Blase used it to slice some potatoes one day.  He didn't use the guard so "Nibbles" took a bite out of Blase's finger.  This post is not for those who are squeamish and don't like blood...or missing parts of a finger.

Blase still shutters when he sees Nibbles.

Blase's Graduation

We had a graduation party for Blase this summer.  He graduated first and last in his class.  haha

He worked this summer for a local lawn care company.  He also spent some time working with Darren.  This fall he spent most of his time learning to roof houses and put up siding with Darren.  He's enjoying this learning some new skills.  Blase is discerning the priesthood, so please keep him in your prayers. He will also continue working with Darren and possibly work with a plumber this winter.

Never Too Old

Just before Halloween the kids proved to me that even teenage boys are not too old to play dress up.  They found the collection of costumes and we all had a fun time!!
