I was blessed to attend the Minnesota Catholic Home Education Conference the first weekend of June. I traveled there and shared a room with three of my favorite Fargo friends. Our room hosted the pizza night on Friday as well. So many fun memories. The talks were amazing! The vendors fantastic and helpful! The company and new friends priceless!
Here's two pictures of my favorite memories of the weekend.
First off - Bernadette won the MacGyver Award for fixing the pickup's windshield wiper with a paper clip. Funny story about that - I was repacking my purse and came across two paper clips in there. I wondered why they got there in the first place and thought to just put them away. Then something whispered, "Just take them along - you never know when you might need a paper clip." Seriously - who knew we would need a paper clip!!! It got us to the conference and home without the windshield wiper falling off. Before this I had to stop every 10 miles to put the wiper back on in the pouring rain. Memories....nothing more than memories....
This is going to be my most favorite picture of the weekend and favorite memory. The lovely lady in the middle is Sarah Mackenzie, author of Teaching from Rest. She is also the amazing host of the RAR - Read-Aloud Revival. Both the book and the podcast have been lifesavers for me. She speaks to my heart and inspires me. So, anyway, I met her, got her to sign my highlighted and well-loved copy of Teaching from Rest, and chatted a few moments. She has a set of twins as well, about the same age as the girls. We are very similar in our homeschooling lives and as she was speaking at the conference I kept feeling like she was talking about me. Crazy.
The lovely lady on the left is my friend, Mrs. NO. Mrs. NO is the wonderful person who introduced me to the RAR when I was stuck in bed after the knee surgery. I told her she needed to be in the picture because without her I would have never taken that step to join the members site. I am completely convinced it is worth the membership price! Check it out! You won't regret it!
These two pictures are my used book sale finds. I know - only two pictures means I was slacking and not buying that much. Ok, I kept myself restrained because we were still packing and moving. There will always be another used book sale.
The Story of a Castle, and etc. books are awesome by the way. No words, just pictures of the same sight as it changes over the years. Really neat approach to showing how things change over hundreds of years. They will work well with our study of the Middle Ages.
