Family Day, Day One

Our first visit was to the Ft. Meade Museum.

Goof balls posing with the cannon.

 Again - goofy!
My favorite part was the museum - seeing a picture of Old St. Martins in Sturgis.  That is the church we had  Luke and Jess's wedding and Mark's funeral.

Our next stop took us to Spearfish and the DC Booth Fish Hatchery
 Sorry boys, no fishing allowed!

We went underground and saw the fish from below.

Then we went up on top and feed them.

 By the Yellowstone boat.
This was a cool water fountain that showed how they took care of the fish.

The boss's room with a desk and a bench.

The bottom had tanks for the fish and chairs for the men.
The top had bunks for sleeping.
The kids and Darren are walking by the little bathroom, the same furnace room, and back to the kitchen.
The kitchen was simple, but nice.
I am certain it stunk in there when they hauled the fish.  Glad it wasn't my job!
Next we walked over to the DC Booth house.
This house was beautiful.  I can't imagine how it must have been when they lived there.  The main living areas of the house were amazing.  The kitchen was my favorite, but I didn't think to take a picture of it.
This is an example of how their beds were.  This room was one of the children's rooms.  They had one boy and one girl.  Mrs. Booth homeschooled her children.  I never would have guessed that.

Their house had a room just for sewing.  Imagine a sewing room way back then!  I was super impressed with that.  I wouldn't mind a sewing room.
The bathroom was beautiful - even by today's standards.
The backyard was peaceful and very, very nice.  No wonder they host weddings there.
Here they are feeding the smaller fish.
The final stop on our day trip was to the High Plains Western Heritage Center in Spearfish.
 The dresses were BEAUTIFUL!!

You can't roller skate in a buffalo herd.

 St. Patrick vestment
I think this is my color.

 Drink anyone?
 HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!!
