Advent 2013 - Day 7
Saturday's book was Merry Christmas, Big Hungry Bear!
We love the original book about the big hungry bear and the little mouse. This book was just as delightful.
Saturday's fun activity was to go shopping for the Angel Tree. My intention was to take the kids to the store and let them pick out a gift for the Angel Tree or Toys for Tots. The temperature was negative 20 around 5 PM and not much higher the rest of the day. We played it smart and "shopped" online. Each of the kids picked out a toy or game that they would like to receive. That way we know for sure that whoever receives the present will enjoy it. The kids are going this instead of purchasing gifts for each of their brothers and sisters. This was a great lesson in giving to others, instead of expecting more presents at Christmas.
Our big accomplishment for Saturday was to organize the Lego blocks by color. Our hope was to put together all the sets to find out what was missing or broken. Blase wants to replace a few of the pieces in a set he bought not too long ago. I want to make the purchase worth it so we will attempt to figure out what pieces are missing.
They weren't off to a good start. In the end we had to pick up the Legos twice thanks to Gianna "helping".
Advent 2013 - Day 8
Second Week of Advent
Stir up our hearts!
Two candles....
Today's book was one of my favorites, Small Acts of Kindness.
The book starts with a young boy giving his mother a hug for no reason. It goes on and on with each person showing another person an act of kindness.
It ends with a young shepherd boy giving a bottle of precious oil to Baby Jesus.
Tonight we watched It's a Wonderful Life.
This is the message I was given by Stephen. I love that kid!
It was "sit on Blase" night at our house.
Can you guess who the owner of this goofy grin is??
