Advent 2013 - Day 15

Third Week of Advent
Rejoice in the Lord!
Two purple, one pink...one to go!

Advent 2013 - Day 15
We read Sunday's book a bit late.  It was evening before we managed to find time.  (Yes, that is hot chocolate with peppermint candies - see Advent 2013 - Day 13)
Today's book was a gift from Priests for Life.  We make every attempt to give multiple times a year to the Priests for Life to help their fight against abortion.  Randomly we will receive free gifts in the mail from them and it makes it just that much more wonderful to give to them.

The book is about a story being told by a father to a son about the Christmas star.  The boy wanted to see the Christmas star, but his dad was explain how he could not see it because it is not there anymore. No one paid attention to this star because he was so little.  In fact, his name was Little Star.   The stars knew there was to be a newborn King born soon.  There was to be an award to the star who could shine the brightest that night.  All the stars dusted themselves off and prepared for the night.  When the night came the stars were disappointed because this newborn King was born in a stable as a poor boy.
Little Star knew that Jesus came as a poor baby to show that He loved all the people, even the small and poor.  Little Star wanted to help Baby Jesus so he reached with all his strength towards the earth.
He shined down with all his strength to keep Baby Jesus warm.  The other stars warned him that he would was burning too brightly and would burn out.  Little Star did not mind because he wanted to help Baby Jesus.
Sure enough, Little Star burnt out.  The boy was sad because the star was gone.  His dad assured him that the star will be remembered forever.  Every time we place a star on top of our Christmas tree was remember the star that gave his life to keep Baby Jesus warm that first Christmas night.
Sunday's fun activity was to go out to eat after Mass.  We always go out to eat on the Sunday closest to a birthday in our house.  Well, unfortunately the weather was very cold again on Sunday so we didn't want to take the little girls out.  I'm fine with taking them to church when it is zero degrees, but not when the wind chill was -15.  The kids will just have to blame Mother Nature for missing out on that one.
