When you go bread making you need to bring milk and flour.
AND money to pay for it.
Got it...we're good now!
Meet Joe. Joe is a chef at one of the coolest places in town (in my opinion). We are blessed enough to know Joe from church. He is the one who rewarded Blase and his friend Isaiah with hot chocolate and a brief bread making tutorial. This is the long version.
So this bread making is gonna look backwards.
Joe and his head chef made a batch beforehand so that it would bake while they made the second batch with the boys. This is Joe explaining to Blase, Stephen, and their friends, Isaiah and J.J. about what they had already prepared.
Nancy, who is Joe's head chef, explained to the boys about the cool salt that forms into pyramids.
I wish I could have gotten a better picture of the pyramid.
First batch in the oven.
Next batch in the works.
It's all in the wrist.
First batch finished and you would never believe how amazing it smelled in that kitchen.
The yeast starting to bubble and work its magic.
Time for a taste test.
Hard on the outside, soft on the inside.
YUMMY!!
Stephen tried to ground some pepper to dip the bread in.
Here Joe was teaching the boys how to prepare the fresh herbs that were going on top of the bread.
It is looking great!
Joe is measuring out the right amounts.
Now a little garlic oil to help spread the bread out on the pan.
Joe was telling Blase to be gentle like picking up his little sisters.
They needed to spread the bread out with little pressure.
Time to sprinkle on the fresh herbs.
Now you are well versed in bread making you should be able to make your own. No? Me neither. I was busy drying dishes and cleaning up after them and the potluck we had earlier. There is no way I could help the boys make that bread again. We were so lucky that Joe took the time to show the boys. We are all sad that he is moving to New York City for a new job. We are glad for him though.
