Tom's Logging Camp

On October 12th we vistited Tom's Logging Camp between Two Harbors and Duluth.

Guess what, we forgot the camera at first.
Blase had to go back to the van to get the camera.
"MORE PICTURES??  Can't we leave the camera in the van?"
Ohhh, just remember -

We got to feed the trout.  The kids got a kick out of this, especially the twinnies.

My very own lumberjack, Rex H. Gebes!

He's been working hard on getting bigger than his brother.
 This just makes me laugh.
First stop was the Harness Shop.

We could have spent an hour in the Harness shop reading all the signs and looking at all the pictures.  There were more amazing things, but just not enough blog spot for them to be featured.
 The Horse Barn was next.

 Chainsaw exhibit.
I didn't even know there were that many kinds of chainsaws.

Can you guess who was the happiest about seeing the Blacksmith Shop?

 Stephen of course!
The Bunkhouse was "cozy" - or not.

I can't even imagine all the food they must have cooked.

This was a "fun house" that made you feel like you were falling down or stumbling.
It also had some funny mirrors.
One of the animal feeding stops was to feed the goats.  It brought back many childhood memories.

The next stop was the camels - I mean llamas.
Kiara kept calling them camels.  No matter how many times we told her they were llamas - like llama llama home with mama llamas.  She wasn't buying it.  They were camels!
Silly, Camel, you tickled my hand.

This was an odds and ends antique display.  There were some neat things in there.

My favorite part of that building.  I love, love this porch light.
We ate right across the parking lot at the little restaurant run by the same owners as Tom's Logging Camp.  The food was great!  The tomato soup was amazing and the sandwiches just right!  The little kids got to have these cute juice boxes.  They wanted to remember the quotes on the box.  I thought it was fitting as we are all nuts.
Gianna's box made us giggle.

Tom's Logging Camp FAVORITES:
Darren - harness shop
Karen - the barn and cook shed
Blase - feeding the animals
Stephen - old tools
Cormac - goats and buildings
Rex - llamas
Brech - finding the horseshoes, old pictures
Gianna - feeding the animals
Brigid - feeding the animals
Kiara - feeding the goats

** Brech's finding the horseshoe was a "game" that we had to locate 12 horseshoes that were randomly hung up above our heads.  We found all of them.  The prize was two suckers for each of the kids.  They were pretty great I-spy players.
