Twinnies Turn One

The twins had their first birthday on Tuesday.  It was so amazing to see two babies learning what presents were and what it is like to have their own piece of cake.  We were twice blessed last year and continue to be every day, even the teething days.
These were their first presents they opened by themselves.  It was a bit baffling that Mom was actually letting Dad rip the paper.
 Kiara
Brigid
Kiara and Brigid using their purses that Gianna gave them.  I cross stitched their names and two hearts on each purse.  That would be part of the reason I was up until 4 AM the other night.
Food from Cormac!!
Who needs socks and other presents when there is food to be eaten.
Pretty clothes from Blase.
Kiara's present from the Bestgen grandparents.
Brigid opening the card from the Bestgen grandparents.
 All of Kiara's presents.
Brigid's presents - notice she wants the food.
 Happy 1st birthday, baby girls!
 Purple cupcakes for Brigid.
 Pink cupcakes for Kiara.
 What is that??
Yes, this is Brigid grabbing the fire.  Yes, this was followed by a sad cry. The arm in the picture is me processing what I saw in the camera and reacting to save her fingers.  I wasn't fast enough.
 Oh no...Brigid.
Kiara got the hang of it a little fast.
 She LOVED the cake.
Brigid had more fun tearing it into pieces.
Who knew Mom would let that happen.
Finally catching on to the idea that she can eat it.
Then she gagged on a huge piece.  Little bites, sweetheart.
When you are done eating cake you can always have a plate for dessert.
Darren had a cupcake with half purple and half pink frostings for both his babies.

Darren left not too long after this for a work trip.
The kids had a pizza party that night with pink and purple plates for the twinnies.

Brech's 6th Birthday

Darren asked Brech how old he was.
"I'm 5, Dad."
"No you aren't."
"I won't be 6 until I open my presents and eat my cake."
Nice response boy!  We decided it was time to open presents and eat cake so he could be six.
Brech had his birthday party in the afternoon for the second year in a row.
These were some of his favorite gifts - why you ask?  His brothers got new colored pencils and watercolors the week before.  He kept asking for some and I kept saying no, he could use the old ones.  He was beyond excited to have his own new set.  Those twinnies sure know what to give for gifts.  He was already making plans to color this and paint that!
Dusty Crophopper - are you serious?  Whoa.
I have the first Han Solo in our house!!  YAH!
Explain to me how a boy gets super excited about a gift that his mother says, "This is for you to practice your letters on before you write them in your book."  He was even excited to use it for school a couple of times.
 Thank you Godmother Mauri!!
It was one of the first things he played with.
A tornado maker to attach two pop bottles together becomes a Star Wars dual light saber.

He was given a HUGE bag of M&M's from his Grandma and Grandpa Bestgen.  He kindly hands them to me and says, "Mom, these are for you because you like them so much."  Ahhh, heart melt.
Nerf bullets can only mean one thing -
 DART GUN!!!  "Wow."
 It was a great birthday!

Happy birthday amazing, wonderful, and precious to us, Brech Earl!

Weekend Hunting

My puppy took Darren and Blase hunting this weekend.  Wasn't that nice of him??
They are having a great time, but I hear the walking is catching up with them.  I heard Blase was pretty stiff this morning.  We are all out of shape in this household.
They shot some doves and grouse.

Oh did you see Blase's new glasses.  He looks even more like his dad now.

Twinnies Lookin' Good

The twinnies were dressed in adorable dresses on Sunday.
Though it was hard to get a picture of them as they kept moving.
Today the girls are rocking their overalls.  Kiara looks too cute in her pink overalls and "CAT" shirt.
Brigid is finally an official member of her Uncle John's fan club with her Carhartt overalls.  From this angle I'd almost guess this was Kiara.  Sometimes it is hard to tell them apart in pictures.
