The National Museum of Woodcraving

On September 3rd we went to The National Museum of Woodcarving in Custer, SD.  The kids had a great time.  I'm pretty sure Stephen wants to become a woodcarver now.
We started the tour with a movie telling about the man who carved all the carvings, Dr. Niblack.  Dr. Niblack was one of the original animators of Disneyland.  Dr. Niblack's carvings took 70,000 hours over a course of thirty years.  It was a sight to behold.  I remember visiting this museum when I was a child.  It was one of my favorite memories.

It was wonderful we were able to go because the museum has now closed their doors for good.
