Pictured Rocks Cruise

One of the highlights of our trip was the Pictured Rocks Cruise on October 4th.  This is something that Darren has wanted to do since we lived in Michigan.  We decided it was a do now or don't ever do adventure we wanted to do.  We were scheduled to take the trip the week before, but it was cancelled due to those crazy waves.
The day was a bit cold and cloudy - and slightly windy.
That isn't a big deal in the bay or even inside the boat itself.
The four big boys and I sat on that upper deck - in the cold and wind.
Darren and the littles sat inside the enclosed area on the second level.

Do you remember when we visited Miners Castle and saw the tour boats on the water?
That is where we were looking out right where we were at the moment.
It was very hard to get good pictures of the Pictured Rocks Lakeshore because of lighting and bouncing conditions.

We were scheduled for a full tour, but as you could probably tell from the bouncing and waves, we turned around about half way through the tour.  The waves were 3-6 feet tall.  The pilot assured us most people started puking when the waves are 4 feet tall.  Hummm, thanks.

This was the Miners Castle again, on our way back towards the bay.

These pictures were from Grand Island that we were able to cruise right next to.

This lighthouse is the Grand Island East Channel Lighthouse.  It was built in 1863.  It was abandoned around the turn of the century.

Surprisingly, one of the lightkeepers and his wife raised twelve children in that lighthouse.  Now that is impressive!!

 Coming back into port.

Good bye.  Thanks for the bouncy ride!
