Just a hop and a skip down the road from Whitefish Point Light Station is the tiny Whitefish Point State Harbor. We did a quick drive through the parking lot to see it.
Umm, harbor version of a junk yard?
This is the same ship from Whitefish Point Lighthouse that we saw. Can you see how much more calm the water looks? The wind was still blowing, but it didn't make the waves as intense over in this area. Darren commented about how he can understand how the Edmund Fitzgerald just wanted to get past Whitefish Point. They probably would have made it if they had. I don't think I understood the power of wind and water together until now.
